An artistically talented The Legend of Zelda fan is showing off their impressive clay model of the creepy Shadow Beast from Twilight Princess. The 2006 mainline Legend of Zelda entry took Link to a parallel world called the Twilight Realm, where he needed to join forces with a mysterious imp-like creature named Midna to protect not only her home, but the kingdom of Hyrule from the wicked Usurper King Zant and his dark forces. Twilight Princess is also famous for giving Link the ability to transform into a wolf while in the Twilight Realm, opening the door for all new kinds of puzzles and gameplay mechanics.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess remains one of the most popular entries in the long-running franchise, with many of its characters making appearances in later spin-off games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Hyrule Warriors. Fans have also paid tribute to Twilight Princess through impressive artwork and cosplays over the years, dressing up as the game’s incarnation of Princess Zelda and drawing stunning posters of Twilight Princess’s memorable cast.
Included in that cast are the Shadow Beasts, the monstrous forms that Zant turns the citizens of the Twilight Realm into to carry out his evil bidding. Reddit user and sculptor sculptednostalgia recently shared photos of their rendition of this dangerous Zelda enemy on r/gaming to the delight of several of the other users there. This small clay statue is colored with acrylic paint and features LED lights in its torso to simulate the Shadow Beast’s glowing tattoo-like symbols.
Fan-Made Shadow Beast Sculpture Recreates Classic Twilight Princess Monster
The artist behind this incredible sculpture of the Shadow Beast has also crafted plenty of other characters and elements from classic Nintendo titles, such as the Hocotate Ship from Pikmin, Master Hand and Crazy Hand from the Super Smash Bros. Series (complete with glowing finger beams and Kirby in his protective Stone form), and the dreaded King Boo from Luigi’s Mansion. All of these works feature the same high level of detail as sculptednostalgia’s latest Shadow Beast sculpture and have earned much praise from their fellow gamers.
There have been rumors of Nintendo working on a Switch port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which would be welcome news to fans, considering the last re-release was on the ill-fated Wii U in 2016. No official announcement about this port has been made as of this writing, but reliable leakers have maintained that it is real and that Nintendo is simply waiting for the right time to reveal it. In the meantime, fans are expressing their nostalgia for Link’s journey through the Twilight Realm by sculpting its most notable characters - including the terrifying Shadow Beasts.
