Zenless Zone Zero: Predicting Caesar King’s Role in the Meta

Zenless Zone Zero's Sons of Calydon faction is set to take center stage with the release of Version 1.2 and the addition of two new agents along with a brand-new zone. Dubbed the Outer Ring, players will get to know the Sons of Calydon better as they explore this location in the upcoming continuation of Phaethon's story that is sure to break new ground for the game. The new banners for Version 1.2 include the Sons of Calydon's Burnice White, and its current leader, Caesar King, who have the potential to be key players in the meta.

Caesar King will be the first of these characters released, being available on the Ember-Crowned Overlord Signal Search channel from September 25 to October 16. As an S-Rank agent, Caesar will likely join Zenless Zone Zero's other S-Rank agents, like Qingyi, Zhu Yuan, and Jane Doe, atop the game's meta. However, just how Caesar will fit into the Zenless Zone Zero meta has yet to be determined, but what has been released about her kit bodes well for her team versatility.

How Zenless Zone Zero's Caesar King Could Shake Up the Meta

Basic Attack	Rampaging Slash/Dead End	Deals Physical damage with six slashes. When there are enough Assist Points, holding the button allows her to throw her shield and deal Physical damage to nearby enemies in exchange for an Assist Point.
Special Attack	Shockwave Shield Bash/Roaring Thrust	Strikes with her shield for Physical damage. If hit while performing, Caesar will parry the enemy, negating all damage and activating Roaring Thrust. Her EX Special Attack is very similar but includes an additional thrust that deals even more Physical damage.
Assist	Lane Change/Aegis Shield/Aiding Blade	Lane Change deals Physical damage, while Aegis Shield acts as a defensive assist that deals Daze to enemies. After performing Aegis Shield, she can follow up with Aiding Blade to perform a spinning attack with the potential to follow up with a Special Attack.
Dodge	Adrift/Hog Rush/ Eye for an Eye	Attacking while dodging activates Hog Rush and reduces damage taken, allowing Caesar to block and follow up with a Special Attack. Eye for an Eye deals Physical damage after a Perfect Dodge.
Chain Attack	Road Rage Slam	This Chain Attack deals major Physical damage to enemies in front of Caesar.
Ultimate	Savage Smash	Hits enemies with a spinning shield attack that deals massive Physical damage as well as Daze.
Core Passives	Barrier of Resilience/Battle Spirit	Barrier of Resilience provides the team with a Radiant Aegis Shield and increases their anti-interrupt and attack while active. Battle Spirit increases the damage taken by enemies while defensive assist agents or members of the same faction are on the team.

As a Defense specialty agent, Caesar is going to be great at tanking hits for the team, especially against Zenless Zone Zero's bosses. However, she also has the helpful ability to provide her teammates with buffs that can support both their offensive and defensive efforts. Her Core Passive, Barrier of Resilience, provides teammates with shields that not only offer protection but increase their attack as well. Caesar also receives a shield based on her Impact stat, which has the potential to greatly boost her defense as well.

Her other Core Passive, Battle Spirit, triggers when other characters with a defense assist or are from her same faction are in the squad and places a debuff on enemies that makes then take more damage. Having Battle Spirit means Caesar will synergize well with all characters except Billy Kid, Zhu Yuan, Grace Howard, and Alexandrina Sebastiane since they have evasive assists. Caesar could be especially potent with other Sons of Calydon agents like Lucy and Piper since they have defensive assists and are from her same faction.

Caesar's Special Attack Could Be a Force to Be Reckoned With

Another major selling point for Caesar is her Special and EX Special Attacks, both of which have the potential to parry the enemy. Both her Special Attack, Shockwave Shield Bash, and her EX Special Attack, Parry Counter, will trigger a perfect block and follow up with an additional attack if the enemy interrupts her while using the attack. This means players can use these attacks in place of a dodge or assist when they see an enemy flash signaling an incoming attack to parry that attack and deal damage to the enemy instead.

The combination of these skills makes Caesar King sound like a versatile addition to Zenless Zone Zero's roster that will be able to find a home on many different teams. With how few Defense agents Zenless Zone Zero currently has, hopefully her addition will open the door for this specialty to become a core part of the game's meta going forward.
