Version 1.6 will introduce three brand-new characters to the game with Silver Soldier Anby, Trigger, and Pulchra all making their debut to the playable roster. Now, one particular character from the livestream has gotten players thinking about their identity.

Zenless Zone Zero has often featured unique character designs for some of its most important in-game characters. Major characters like Pompey, the former Overlord of the Outer Ring, and New Eridu Public Security's Bringer have been given their own individual models, despite not becoming playable characters. Various other NPCs around Sixth Street have been given unique models, like Sjal and Travis, with many of them able to be recruited as promoters for the video store. A new NPC in Version 1.6's livestream has sparked speculation about the character's in-universe role.

The design of one particular white-haired character in Zenless Zone Zero's Version 1.6 trailer has caught the eye of several fans, theorizing about his identity. Multiple fans have suggested that the mystery NPC seen standing near Vivian and the Random Play duo may, in fact, be the Mayor of New Eridu. Previous information about the Mayor has also suggested that he acts as the master of Victoria Housekeeping, with Lycaon clearly visible in the background standing guard. The image also suggests there may be some connection between Vivian and the NPC, given their positioning in the scene.

The striking appearance of the NPC has led fans to question whether he will eventually become a playable character. Many fans expressed their personal excitement about the potential of adding the theorized New Eridu Mayor to their team, praising the character's design and personality. However, his playability within Zenless Zone Zero was brought into question by others, with similar characters like the previously-mentioned Pompey having unique designs only to be turned into an in-game boss.
