Out of the many bosses in Zenless Zone Zero, players will likely encounter Nineveh as their first colossal Ethereal. This monstrosity is one of the largest Ethereals in the ruins of old Eridu, and it's up to the players to help take it down.

Nineveh isn't particularly difficult to fight, but if you're playing Withering Garden in Zenless Zone Zero's Hollow Zero with modifiers active, then this boss is bound to give you trouble. Putting the negative modifiers aside, here's a guide covering all the important things you need to know about Nineveh.

You can fight Nineveh once you reach Inter-Knot Level 45, which unlocks the Withering Garden - Core node in Hollow Zero. Here, you'll be going through three floors, each representing the previous Hollow Zero stages. If you make it all the way through to the end, the boss fight will begin.

Apart from a few moves, Nineveh's attacks are obvious and very telegraphed. Scoring parries and perfect assists will whittle away the boss' health and Daze bars, eventually opening it up to your harder-hitting attacks. Once Nineveh's HP reaches certain levels, it will do the following attacks:

Ether Storm

Nineveh will go to the center of the map and cause small barriers to erupt from the ground. Then, it will unleash an Ether blast covering the entire arena, damaging everything that gets caught. To avoid this attack, simply hide behind one of the barriers.

When the attack ends, the barriers will explode, knocking your agent down. There may be cases where agents get outright incapacitated during this time — to avoid this, make sure to stick to the barrier as closely as you can.

Ether Onslaught

Once Nineveh's health goes down to about 30%, it will once again go to the center of the arena and summon vines around the perimeter. Then, Nineveh will start unleashing a long barrage of homing Ether projectiles that will explode on contact. This phase of the fight can get pretty hectic, as you'll have to avoid both the projectiles and the vines' attacks.

Here, we recommend ignoring the tentacles and focusing on dodging. Zenless Zone Zero characters like Nicole can use the long animations of their EX Special Attacks to avoid getting hit by the Ether projectiles. Additionally, many Perfect Dodge follow-up attacks also make your agent invincible, so try abusing those to avoid getting hit.

Nineveh Boss Fight Tips

  • Nineveh has neither Weaknesses nor Resistances. Use anyone you like.
  • Your stunner or main Anomaly character should be the one doing most of the fighting.
  • Stunners like Anby deal more Daze after performing a Perfect Dodge. If your character has a similar effect, abuse Nineveh's telegraphed attacks.
  • You can trigger Perfect Dodges by dashing into Nineveh whenever it does its spin attack.
  • Hornets will spawn during the fight. Use them to trigger Resonia effects that require defeating enemies.
