The following tier list ranks the best W-Engines in Zenless Zone Zero based on their Types: Attack, Anomaly, Stun, Defense, and Support. Before diving into the list, there are a couple of important points to consider. Firstly, W-Engines’ effects only work on Agents with the same Type (Specialty) and Attribute, making a general tier list impractical. Therefore, this tier list has been divided into five categories to better rank each Type’s best options. Secondly, this list excludes battle pass W-Engines and weapons with niche buffs (e.g., those that enhance one specific Attribute), because the goal is to identify all-around practical weapons for players.

Attack W-Engine Tier List

• S-Tier: The Brimstone is one of the best W-Engines for all Attack Specialty Agents because it benefits from the equipper’s Basic Attack, Dash Attack, and Dodge Counter to buff DMG. Cannon Rotor, meanwhile, offers an easy-to-trigger 12% ATK buff on top of a 200% extra DMG after CRIT hits.
• A-Tier: Steel Cushion is a safe option because it provides up to 50% DMG for any attack from behind. It also provides up to 40% Physical DMG for the user. Starlight Engine is another reliable choice because it feeds off Dodge Counter or Quick Assist, two frequent combat moves, to buff ATK.
• B-Tier: The Street Superstar is the ideal stopgap. It gives the Agent a Charge stack every time a team member lands a Chain Attack.

Stun W-Engine Tier List

• S-Tier: The Restrained is the best Stun W-Engine since it boosts the Daze and DMG of Basic Attacks. Precious Fossilized Core is another practical weapon, as it can provide up to 32% Daze.
• A-Tier: Hellfire Gears comes with a passive and active effect that are both practical. Off-field, it accelerates Energy Regen. On-field, it can enhance the user’s Impact effect by up to 20% (for each EX Special Attack that they land).
• B-Tier: Steam Oven and [Vortex] Hatchet are consistent early-game choices because they offer easy-to-trigger Impact buffs.

Anomaly W-Engine Tier List

• S-Tier: Fusion Compiler is a top-tier W-Engine in that it comes with a base ATK boost that benefits all Anomaly Agents. It also feeds off Special Attack or EX Special Attack to accelerate Anomaly Proficiency, a critical stat for the Anomaly Specialty. Electro-Lip Gloss is another good choice thanks to its ATK and DMG buff against Attribute Anomaly-infected enemies.
• A-Tier: Rainforest Gourmet and Roaring Ride are the runner-up best W-Engines, as they both come with ATK buffs. Roaring Ride can also enhance Anomaly Proficiency and Buildup Ratio, which are essential in combat.
• B-Tier: Weeping Gemini is perfect for early-game Anomaly compositions, as it provides a reliable source for Anomaly Proficiency.

Support W-Engine Tier List

• S-Tier: Among all Support W-Engines, Slice of Time and Weeping Cradle are the best as they provide team-wide buffs.
• A-Tier: The Reverb Series W-Engines are a surefire pick for players who want to capitalize on their Support Agent’s combat skills.
• B-Tier: Kaboom the Cannon is also perfect for Support characters, as it boosts the team’s ATK when the player lands successful shots or strikes.

Defense W-Engine Tier List

• S-Tier: With Bunny Band and Original Transmorpher, your Tank agents get the highest durability, allowing you to exploit their presence.
• A-Tier: Spring Embrace and Big Cylinder are the next best options, thanks to their properties that reduce the enemy’s inflicted DMG.
• B-Tier: With [Identity] Base, you can enhance a Tank’s DEF in a passive way without having to do any on-field triggering activities.
