The fact is all he ever really wanted as his own TV series. He got it. I don't think it is traditional writers block. He hit his personal milestone and no longer really cares about this series.

He has addressed this. Years ago he was asked if he would give over his material in a Jordan style, and he said something to the effect that he knows how it ends and that's all that matters.

I remember, as a long time fan of the books, feeling like he doesn't really care about the real fans.

That was when I lost faith in George, tbh.
